The workshop was organised as part of the project Development of Quality Culture and Operational Excellence of the University of Primorska at the Chamber of commerce and industry of Primorska, Koper, Slovenia on the 4th June 2015.
The presentation given by Anthony F. Camilleri centred around the idea that Higher Education has multiple functions and multiple forms of delivery, and that, depending which of these is important to an institution, a different portfolio of quality tools should be applied. Thus, for example:
- curricula are usually checked by a mixture of review boards, student surveys and external examiners
- the management of an institution can be checked using a tool such as ISO 9001, or as part of (re)accreditation procedures
- if an institution uses e-learning, they might want to use an e-learning specific tool, such as those described in this report
